07/02/20 PRAYING THROUGH

"Praying through" means praying til you get ahold of God or God gets ahold of you. Few pray through.

I used my earlier post about THE POWER OF A SINGLE CHOICE, in a recent service. I referred to several of my Bible examples and asked folks (especially the children and youth) to tell me about the good choices and the bad choices connected with those Bible characters.

When we came to Jacob they stated that Jacob had wrestled with the "angel" (a Theophany, appearance of God) and correctly said it was good. I agreed and pointed out that God wants us to wrestle with Him in prayer (pray through).

God does not have to be convinced to do good or be loving. We wrestle because the adversary (the devil) is fighting against our prayers and we have to pray (fight) past the dark resistance. In order to lay hold of God we sometimes have to do battle with Satan. Even when we lay hold of God in prayer, we need to continue faithfully. We must put our sacrifice on the altar, but we must make sure that our sacrifice is not taken away by Satan.
