A survey within a Charlotte, North Carolina public school system sparked pushback last week for asking students a series of LGBT-themed questions, including if they identify as transgender.
The questions on the survey within the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools system were eventually pulled, but not before parents raised concern about their appropriateness.
The student climate survey is given to students annually, questioning them on student efficacy, persistence, safety, belonging and bullying. The survey is voluntary, the school system said.
This year, the survey added questions for sixth through 12th graders about sexual identity, WSOC reported.
The survey’s most controversial questions, according to WSOC, read:
How do you describe your gender identity (check one): Male, Female, Non-binary or Gender fluid
Do you identify as transgender? Yes, No or Not sure
Which of the following best describes your sexual orientation? Straight/heterosexual, Gay or Lesbian, Bisexual, Pansexual, Asexual, Questioning my sexual orientation or Other
“The intent of their addition was to inform central office resource deployment to continue efforts to make our schools safer and more welcoming for all students,” Superintendent Earnest Winston said in a Facebook post. “... Given the feedback we have received, we have removed the aforementioned questions from this year’s student survey.”
Winston vowed to “continue to improve communications to families about matters that affect their child’s education.”
On Facebook, parents complained the survey was not voluntary.
“Children were not given the option. It was decidedly NOT ‘voluntary.’ Making such a statement after the fact does not make it so,” one parent wrote on the school system’s Facebook page.
Another parent wrote, “My 6th grader just told me about this today AFTER I read about it on Facebook and asked if their class had taken the survey. How exactly is this survey anonymous and voluntary when the students are told it's an assignment and they must log in with their ID and answer questions? My child told me some kids had difficulty answering the sexual identity question, which should NOT have been included.”

All nations will fail, because all nations will reject Christ and godliness. We can't actually vote ourselves into a Christian nation. A nation can only be Christian when the people choose personally to receive and follow Christ. In the USA we vote for a President and his policies, not for his morality. Otherwise we would not have had a President for a long time (if ever).
However, we can and should vote against people and policies that are aimed at destroying the Christian heritage and traditional moral direction of the USA (when it is possible).
I cannot believe anyone would condemn USA to the failed policies of Socialism, Communism, anti-Christian, anti-Bible government.
If not for our own preferences and comfort, we should choose for the protection and well being of our children and grandchildren, while we can.

All nations will fail, because all nations will reject Christ and godliness. We can't actually vote ourselves into a Christian nation. A nation can only be Christian when the people choose personally to receive and follow Christ. In the USA we vote for a President and his policies, not for his morality. Otherwise we would not have had a President for a long time (if ever).
However, we can and should vote against people and policies that are aimed at destroying the Christian heritage and traditional moral direction of the USA (when it is possible).

You can quit sins of the flesh, (drugging, adultery, killing), if you remove the opportunity.
Sins of the heart are inescapable.
My argument is that the druggies, the adulterers, the murderers, the thieves, when isolated or physically incapacitated or situationally unable, do not commit those sins. But we are constantly told how hard life is for them. (this does not diminish or belittle the terrible bondage that grips the people who are slaves to those sins, because it is real).
However, Christians, real Christians, truly saved, born again, transformed followers of Christ, have not only stopped doing those ACTS of sin, they have stopped seeking the high that comes through drugs, stopped lusting, stopped hating, stopped coveting.
We hear very little about people being delivered from sin (outwardly or inwardly) and we are being led to believe that sinning is an acceptable response to temptation, difficulty, hardship. We are being led to believe that there is no deliverance from sin. This is because salvation from sin is not proclaimed by preachers, or because it is not sought by sinners.

I did not see this post until this morning. I actually wrote this yesterday, but because I did not have time to write my comment, I just left it on my FB screen.

It is important to pray for one another. Sometimes we must keep a more focused, personal prayer vigil for them. But we are not neglecting our prayers for folks if we don't pray 24/7. God keeps vigil and He is aware of our our prayers for others.
If we pray for other people to be faithful, and they fail, it is not because we failed to pray, but because they failed to obey God. Yes, we must do more than pray, but this post addresses the issue of praying for other people to be faithful.
Pray for one another, but remember, it is still their responsibility to be faithful. Take time to pray for them. When they come to your mind, pray for them.

I don't usually post my exercise activity on my Timeline. I use my Fitness for Friends group. I just wanted to praise the Lord for His goodness, kindness and enabling grace.
I need Him every micro-second. I want to be well and stronger in order to serve Him better and longer.
He blesses, even when we are not in full stride, but I don't ever want to let up or slack off, unnecessarily.
Thank y'all for your prayers for me and my ministry, and PRAISE THE LORD for His many blessings in our lives.

I came across this and wanted to share it with you. I wrote it almost 10 years ago. This is an overview of First John (chapters divided into three parts); 1-2, 3, 4-5.

Sad when sinning religion (S/R) explains (changes) Scripture.
Even when the Bible clearly says that God saves us from sinning, S/R says,
"God meant to say..." or,
"God meant THIS when He said THAT..." or,
"God did not mean THAT when He said THIS."
For instance, God said that believers are, "righteous, even as He is righteous," but S/R interprets that to mean, “God sees us as righteous, even though we still sin and have a sin nature. We can never be righteous in this world” Consider these verses from that perspective.
PART 1... 1 John 1 & 2
For those who believe in Sinning Religion and read this article, but do not agree with my view of your position, please correct my statements and send them to me by email. BTW, you do not have to rewrite these verses for those of us who believe in salvation from sin, since we already agree with the way GOD SAID it. For those who want to refer to 1 John 1:8 as proof that believers cannot live without sin, don't be too sure that is what it is saying. Since the rest of Scripture refutes S/R and affirms righteous living, 1 John 1:8 must be understood in the light of those hundreds of other verses.
GOD SAID,

6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
S/R says,
If we walk in darkness we still have salvation. Fellowship is not integral to salvation, it is an extra benefit which a Christian may or may not have. At any rate, walking in darkness (sin) does not separate us from God.

7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin.
S/R says,
We actually cannot really walk fully in the light or in obedience to God or in righteousness, at least all of the time. Also, we are “counted” as cleansed from all sin, rather than actually and experientially cleansed (purified) from all sin. We will always have sin, in this life.

And you know that He was manifested to take away the believers penalty, but He does not save the believer from the power and pollution of sin, because the believer still has sin in this present evil world. Except, God can't see our sin, because He looks at us through Jesus.

S/R says,
Whoever abides in Jesus, still sins, because no one is without sin and no one can live without sinning: whoever is a believer and still sins has seen God, and knows God. Deliverance from sinning is not part of salvation.

Whoever is born of God does commit sin; because either God can't deliver believers from sin or God won't deliver believers from sin or God does not care that believers get delivered from sin in this world. God's seed remains in the believer, but that seed does not or cannot save the believer from sin. Not only is the believer able to sin, he is expected to sin and in deed, cannot do any other than sin, because, being born of God does not save believers from sinning.

10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever does not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loves not his brother.
S/R says,
There is no difference in the children of God and the children of the devil when it comes to sin, since both the children of God and the children of the devil sin. Even if a believer does not do righteousness, they are still of God.
GOD SAID,
1 John 3:24
24 And he that keeps his commandments dwells in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.
S/R says,
Believers who do not keep God's commandments are still in Christ, because believers still sin. Here is how we know that we are Christians, because we believe we are, even if we are still sinning. We know we are saved because we believed on Christ at some time in the past, not because we are abiding in the Holy Spirit and bearing good fruit rather than evil fruit. The Holy Spirit abides, even when we are producing bad fruit.

Believers are not like Christ in this world and though we are not like Him here and now, we will have boldness in the day of judgment, because it doesn't change our eternal destiny.

We know that we love the children of God, regardless of our feelings or actions, because keeping God's commandments has nothing to do with my relationship with God or salvation, since believers cannot keep God's commandments.

3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

This is the love of God, that God says we have kept His commandments, even though we don't keep His commandments. We are unable to keep His commandments and it is just a legalistic burden to try to keep His commandments. It is grievous to try to keep His commandments.

4 For whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world: and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.
S/R says,
Whoever is born of God does not overcome the world, because believers cannot overcome the world, the flesh and the devil. Christian faith has nothing to do with overcoming temptation, it only gives us victory in our sins, not over sin. Faith does not overcome the world.

5 Who is he that overcomes the world, but he that believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

* When you fail at something, don't "lose it," but learn from it.
Take construction, shake destruction.
* In non-essentials, less than OK is OK.
Don't settle for less. Do your best.
If you're not perfect, you're like all the rest.
* It's OK to NOT BE "world class" athlete or world class anything (in the mundane world).
As they say, make the main thing, the main thing.

We cannot avoid or forestall or change every negative event we face. It is good to work for the best, but we must prepare ourselves for those times and events which are not positive or to our liking.
Christians throughout history AND TODAY, all over the world have had to deal with the worst circumstances in life. THIS IS NOT HEAVEN, and we don't have heaven on earth. The Bible makes it clear that we will not see The Kingdom until the King (Jesus) comes back.
Do what you can (within the parameters that God allows) to make a better life, better world, BUT be aware and be ready to deal with hard trial, material losses, financial setbacks, political overthrow, persecution, sickness, death.
Live life in the presence and the power and purity of God.
Take the bad with grace, be strong in the Lord.
Live with heaven in view.
Live in submission to Christ.
Walk in faith, walk in love, walk in victory.
Bad times will come, because this is the war, not the victory celebration. We will enter into eternal victory, we will celebrate the King of kings, we will reign with Him forever and ever. In the meantime, we must be vigilant, faithful and we must occupy until He comes.

Hands represent what we do.
Heart represents what we are.
God requires clean hands and a pure heart. They are not one and the same. Both are possible because of the atoning work of Christ. It begins with regeneration and a redeemed life. The saved person has received a new, godly nature (mind of Christ) and begins to live a life of righteousness but he still has the carnal mind, which battles with his new nature. God calls all sinners to have their lives changed and their sins washed away. However, the believer is left with his old nature (the mind that is prone to the flesh), which is in contradistinction to his new nature (the spiritual mind). However, God provides deliverance from the old nature, the sin nature, the carnal mind, the mind of the flesh, the double mind. Once the believer is cleansed, delivered, purified from his carnal mind, his double-mindedness, then he is pure, even as Christ is pure.
Look at these verses.

3 Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place?
4 He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.

A friend asked a good question.
Got 2 questions, friend. Is is possible for a person to have a holy life, but not a holy heart? Can a person have a holy heart, but not a holy life? It would seem the answer to those questions would be “no,” but I would appreciate your take on it. I am trying to understand if holiness of “heart and life” are redundant terms. Thanks!
MY RESPONSE...
It is not redundant, but it is often confused and therefore people think that when Christians DO the right thing, then they must be holy. On the other hand there are people who have come to a point of total surrender and heart purity, but they move from being entirely sanctified to being sterilized and they are TOO HOLY to do the work that needs to be done. AND YES, I realize there is contradiction in these examples. However, I don't doubt that people actually are led astray.
I believe that the saved person, who has a new heart a new man and begins to do the works of God, begins to live and walk in a holy manner, but still has the old man, which is a spiritual corruption (as is addressed in Romans 7). This is referred to as having clean (holy) hands. The person who is saved has the power of God to walk in the Light and therefore to have a holy life. But the saved person who has not been purified by the infilling of the Holy Spirit, which delivers from all sin (inbred as well as active or behavioral) therefore needs to be purified in his inner man, by the purging out of the old man. This complete trust in Christ to save from all sin brings a believer to the point where he will love God with the whole heart, mind, soul and strength. This is a holy heart, cleansed from all sin.
To recap quickly...
There are believers who do the works of God, but struggle from time to time with the old man. Those believers do live a holy life.
There are believers who have finally surrendered all and trusted Christ for cleansing from all sin (the old man) setting them free from the law of sin and death and bringing them into the law of love, the law of liberty, the royal law, the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus (as in Romans 8). The heart is made perfect in love. Sadly, sometimes those people think that the experience of heart purity is the destination, when in reality it is not. It is essential to a holy heart, but walking in the light and growing in grace is essential to maintaining a holy heart and life. As John tells us, we must walk in the light in order to be cleansed from all sin and to be cleansed from all iniquity.

Does your pastor preach that God commands, enables and requires holiness of heart and life?

A friend asked a good question.
Got 2 questions, friend. Is is possible for a person to have a holy life, but not a holy heart? Can a person have a holy heart, but not a holy life? It would seem the answer to those questions would be “no,” but I would appreciate your take on it. I am trying to understand if holiness of “heart and life” are redundant terms. Thanks!
MY RESPONSE...
It is not redundant, but it is often confused and therefore people think that when Christians DO the right thing, then they must be holy. On the other hand there are people who have come to a point of total surrender and heart purity, but they move from being entirely sanctified to being sterilized and they are TOO HOLY to do the work that needs to be done. AND YES, I realize there is contradiction in these examples. However, I don't doubt that people actually are led astray.
I believe that the saved person, who has a new heart a new man and begins to do the works of God, begins to live and walk in a holy manner, but still has the old man, which is a spiritual corruption (as is addressed in Romans 7). This is referred to as having clean (holy) hands. The person who is saved has the power of God to walk in the Light and therefore to have a holy life. But the saved person who has not been purified by the infilling of the Holy Spirit, which delivers from all sin (inbred as well as active or behavioral) therefore needs to be purified in his inner man, by the purging out of the old man. This complete trust in Christ to save from all sin brings a believer to the point where he will love God with the whole heart, mind, soul and strength. This is a holy heart, cleansed from all sin.
