02/25/20 THE WORTHINESS OF GOD'S CHILDREN

02/25/20 THE WORTHINESS OF GOD'S CHILDREN

No one comes to God, based on personal worthiness.

But those who come to God in faith are made worthy in various ways.

CONSIDER THESE VERSES

THIS IMPLIES THAT THERE ARE THOSE WHO ARE WORTHY (see *)
Matthew 10:37-38

37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.
38 And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.

* Those who are worthy love Jesus more than all others.
* Those who are worthy take up their cross and follow Jesus.

OUR REPENTANCE MUST MEET GOD'S REQUIREMENT
Luke 3:8

8 Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

THE REDEEMED ARE DEEMED WORTHY OF ETERNAL LIFE
Luke 20:35

35 But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:

WE MUST TAKE STEPS TO BE WORTHY TO ESCAPE
Luke 21:36

36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

WORTHY TO SUFFER FOR HIM
Acts 5:41

41 And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.

WALKING (LIVING) WORTHY OF GOD'S CALLING (see *)
Ephesians 4:1-3

1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

* Worthiness requires humility, modesty.
* Worthiness requires gentleness.
* Worthiness requires patience.
* Worthiness requires standing firm during opposition.
* Worthiness requires pursuing unity and peace with others through the Holy Spirit.

WALKING (LIVING) WORTHY OF THE LORD (see *)
Colossians 1:9-14

9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
11 Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;
12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

* Walking worthy of the Lord requires being filled with knowledge of God's will,
* Walking worthy of the Lord requires being filled with all wisdom,
* Walking worthy of the Lord requires being filled with all spiritual insight.
* This results in completely pleasing God,
* This also results in being fruitful in every good work,
* This also results by increasing in the knowledge of God,,
* This also results by being strengthened by His glorious might
* Producing ALL patience and determination with JOYFULNESS,
* As believers give thanks to the Father, Who created us to live forever in holiness and light.
* But in the present, He delivers us from the power of darkness and brings us into the kingdom of Jesus,
* Redeemed by His blood and forgiven of our sins.

WALKING WORTHY OF GOD IS WALKING IN HOLINESS (see *)
1 Thessalonians 2:10-12

10 Ye are witnesses, and God also, how holily and justly and unblameably we behaved ourselves among you that believe:
11 As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father doth his children,
12 That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.

* Those who will walk worthy of God will be holy, righteous, unblameable.

THOSE WHO WALK WORTHY OF GOD'S KINGDOM GROW (see *)
2 Thessalonians 1:3-5

3 We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;
4 So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:
5 Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:

* Those who walk worthy of God's kingdom will grow exceedingly in faith and will abound in sacrificial love for one another,
* They will not only endure, but their patience and faith will be obvious in persecutions and tribulations,
* Making the worthy as they survive and suffer through the righteous judgment of God.

THOSE WHO ARE WORTHY OF GOD'S CALLING DO GOD'S GOOD WILL (see *)
2 Thessalonians 1:11-12

11 Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:
12 That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

*Those who are worthy of God's calling fulfill God's good pleasure as they walk in faith and power,
* In order to glorify the name of Christ, according to the grace of God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
