12/30/20 Good News and Bad News in Revelation 21:7-8.

Here are 8 separate posts, which I put together into one post (for your convenience). There are eight (very short) parts because I address each of the sins which lead to the lake of fire and brimstone.

People need to take God's warning seriously. But I also included God's assurance that believers can overcome testing, trial, temptation, that we will inherit the promises of God and He will be our God and we shall be His children.

I hope you will take the few minutes to read His word and I hope my short comments (DLG note) will make the sin easier to understand.

Revelation 21:7-8
7 He that overcomes shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
8 But the FEARFUL... shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

DLG note...
THE FEARFUL...
Those who are cowardly, those who deny their faith, those who abandon God, those who recant during pressure. The fearful are those of little faith or no faith. The fearful are those who do not overcome.

THE UNBELIEVING...
The faithless, the untrustworthy, the disloyal. Those who never trusted Christ for salvation and also the ones who believed for a while and then fell away.

THE ABOMINABLE...
Those who are abhorrent, corrupt, defiled, despicable, detestable, disgusting in their words and actions, to God and society.

8 But... MURDERERS shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

MURDERERS...
Those who deliberately kill others. Jesus pointed out that murder can take a spiritual form through hating others. God, through Paul, said that those who commit murder (and other works of the flesh) will not inherit the kingdom of God.

WHOREMONGERS...
Fornicators, sexually immoral people (various kinds of sexual promiscuity) profane, obscene. Jesus included sins of the heart and sins of the mind as sexual violations.

SORCERERS...
Magic, occult, demon activity, using drugs for spiritual activity. Seeking guidance from spirits.

IDOLATERS...
Image worshiper, image servant, false god follower. Idolatry is often aligned with other sins of the mind and flesh, such as greed and sexual sins.

8 But... ALL LIARS, shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

LIARS...
Lying not only keeps folks out of heaven, it reserves them a place in torment, in the Lake of Fire. The lost are carried away to hell, then the eternally lost are assigned to the Lake of Fire, for eternity.
