BASIC INTRO TO DOCTRINE
(Hebrews 6:1-2)
This list of doctrines represent a system of other doctrines related to the same subjects. It is not exhaustive, but it indicates the basic teachings of the Bible that should be known by the young Christian.
Repentance is the entry point of salvation, which includes man's need, God's provision, turning from sin and turning to God.
Faith is the essential relationship between God and man. Faith is the gift of God. Faith is trust, obedience, reliance on Christ and Christ alone for salvation.
Baptism's refer to the washings, cleansings God gives to His people, believers, priests. We are cleansed by the Word, the Blood, the Holy Spirit. There is a water baptism that symbolizes death to sin and there is the essential Baptism with the Holy Spirit that effects death to sin and the cleansing, purifying, purging, entire sanctification of the believer.
Laying on of hands refers to impartation of spiritual gifts, recognition of appointment to leadership, anointing of believers for service, healing, prayer, and symbolic of union within the body of Christ.
Resurrection of the dead, beginning with the resurrection of Christ, then the resurrection of the believers then the resurrection of the unsaved. This also includes the nature of resurrection (physical).
Eternal judgment relates to God's judgment for sin on the cross; judgment of Christians for their rewards; judgment of the nations at the end of the Tribulation and at the return of Christ to rule; judgment of non-believers at the Great White Throne.
Hebrews 6:1-2
1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,
2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.
