03/21/20 DON'T TAKE YOUR MARRIAGE FOR GRANTED
Husbands be faithful, even if your wife refuses to be the loving, supportive, kind, attentive wife that God requires her to be.
There is no excuse for wives to neglect or verbally abuse their husbands. Husbands should never be unfaithful to their wives, but neither should wives rob their husbands of the affection, respect, attention, which rightfully belongs to him. Don't forget, some other person will gladly be nice to your husband (or your wife). Your mate should not be deprived of love, affection, intimacy, respect, dignity at home.
Reading and following this passage of Scripture might save your marriage (even if you don't think it is in jeopardy).
1 Peter 3:1-7
(I have added words in parenthesis to help clarify the original meaning of the passage. I have also added dlg note...)
1 Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation (behavior) of the wives;
(dlg note... Don't be a nag, even about salvation. If quiet, kind behavior can win the lost husband, it can also strengthen the relationship with the believing husband.)
2 While they (husband) behold your chaste (dignified, decent, respectful) conversation (conduct, behavior) coupled with fear.
3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
(dlg note... Physical attractiveness is not discouraged but it is not dependent on expensive or stylish adornment.)
4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
(dlg note... Wives (and husbands) sometimes neglect their physical appearance, attractiveness to their mate. This should not be. Wives have the responsibility to please their husbands physically and emotionally and relational, through humility, submission, meekness. DON'T BE A NAG).
5 For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:
6 Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.
7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
(dlg note... Husbands must also consider the emotional, relational, physical needs of the wife. He should seek her security and happiness, making sacrifices for her. DON'T BE AN OGRE.)
