01/20/20 WATCH YOUR WAKE

01/20/20 WATCH YOUR WAKE

WE DON'T HEED NO STEENKEEN "SLOW DOWN SIGNS," says the person who left destruction and death in the wake of his life.

01/20/20 RUIN AND RUN MENTALITY

01/20/20 RUIN AND RUN MENTALITY

Those who refuse to slow down in a NO WAKE ZONE seldom go back to fix the ruin they caused.

Even if was their family.

01/20/20 NICE NAMES DON'T CHANGE NATURE

01/20/20 NICE NAMES DON'T CHANGE NATURE

Regardless the euphemisms, hardness of heart and head are actually curses and tools of destruction.

01/20/20 RESPONSIBILITY GOES WITH POSITION

01/20/20 RESPONSIBILITY GOES WITH POSITION

Older siblings go through phases of negativity, self-centeredness, and often leave family in disarray or ruin. Seldom correcting their destruction.

01/20/20 DON'T BE SO TOUCHY

01/20/20 DON'T BE SO TOUCHY

Christians today need to be willing to offer and receive evaluation from other believers, without being touchy or reactive.

01/20/20 INSTRUCTION AND EXAMPLE

01/20/20 INSTRUCTION AND EXAMPLE

Children need instruction in both Christian DOCTRINE and PRACTICE, and they need adult leadership in both.

01/20/20 CHOOSE YOUR WEAPON

01/20/20 CHOOSE YOUR WEAPON

God gave the sword of steel to legitimate earthly authority.
God gave the Sword of the Spirit to Christians.
Choose your weapon.

01/20/20 IT'S NOT MAGIC, IT'S MIRACULOUS

01/20/20 IT'S NOT MAGIC, IT'S MIRACULOUS

The Sword of the Spirit (not the sword of steel) sets the mind free, conquers sin, defeats the devil, leads into eternal victory.

01/20/20 IT IS PEACEMAKING, NOT PACIFISM

01/20/20 IT IS PEACEMAKING, NOT PACIFISM

Biblical Peacemaking (non-violence) is not the same as Pacifism.

It is important to know the difference.

01/20/20 PUT 1ST THINGS 1ST

01/20/20 PUT 1ST THINGS 1ST

If believers had been as vocal and active in exercising 1st Amendment instead of crying about 2nd Amendment, we wouldn't be where we are.

01/20/20 ACCEPTING THEM IN THEIR OWN LIGHT

01/20/20 ACCEPTING THEM IN THEIR OWN LIGHT

All Christians, whether they have less or more light than another, should be sensitive and responsive to other believers.

01/20/20 ... AS UNTO ME

01/20/20 ... AS UNTO ME

Believers with more light shouldn't condemn those with less light.
Those with less light shouldn't condemn those with more light.

I know this should be self evident, but knowing something and practicing something are not always companions. Sometimes we need to be reminded of that which we know. My job as pastor is to remind folks of what they already know. It isn't that people are told too often, but that people neglect what they have been told and must be reminded.

Peter reminded people.
2 Peter 1:12-13
12 Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.
13 Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;

01/20/20 DISAGREE WITHOUT DISHONORING

01/20/20 DISAGREE WITHOUT DISHONORING

It is one thing for a believer to misunderstand or disagree with another believer.

It is sin to mistreat another believer.

01/20/20 DON'T UNCHRISTIANIZE

01/20/20 DON'T UNCHRISTIANIZE

To "unChristianize" someone is to deny a believer's salvation.
This does not change the believer's relationship with God.

01/20/20 OT AND NT PURPOSES

01/20/20 OT AND NT PURPOSES

O.T. reveals wickedness of sin, cost of salvation, separation from God.
N.T. conquers sin, procures salvation, reconciles to God.

Knowing this helps us understand why the Old Testament and the New Testament are so different and why the O.T. records such seemingly radical concepts.

OLD TESTAMENT BACKGROUND
Human behavior in the O.T. indicates how extremely evil man is.
God's sacrificial system indicates man's need for salvation.
God's judgment on human sin indicates the need for Divine reconciliation.

NEW TESTAMENT PROVISION AND PROMISE
Sin is overcome and defeated by the death and Resurrection of Christ.
Jesus' victory over sin and death is offered to all who turn to Christ.
Believers are forgiven, cleansed, renewed, empowered and reconciled.
