04/03/20 POINTS TO A PURPOSEFUL LIFE
A list of SHORT LISTS I posted around time of my birthday, reflecting on Christian principles of success (50+/-).
This is not a Bible study (though you should easily remember applicable Bible verses for each point). This list is a reflection of Biblical principles. I used this outline in a Wednesday ZOOM session and referenced Bible passages.
I hope to post that session soon. Also, it is obvious that this is not an exhaustive list or explanation of these principles, which can be found in most books on management, success, leadership.
I posted these shorts lists over a period of a few days. I added the (titles) simply to set each short list apart.
(COME APART)
1. Come apart from the world.
2. Come apart to Christ.
(CONTENTMENT)
Most "Christians" were not content before COVID-19, no shock that they are not content with God's provision & protection now.
I know there are several factors involved in understanding these passages, but they do not change my use of the words, which are translated content or contentment. We are to be satisfied, fulfilled, trusting in the provision and will of God. I could have only referenced the specific verses * (Philippians 4:11; 1 Timothy 6:8; Hebrews 13:5) but the context helps us understand the scope of application.
Philippians 4:10-22
10 But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your care of me hath flourished again; wherein ye were also careful, but ye lacked opportunity.
* 11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
14 Notwithstanding ye have well done, that ye did communicate with my affliction.
15 Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only.
16 For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity.
17 Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.
18 But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God.
19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
20 Now unto God and our Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
21 Salute every saint in Christ Jesus. The brethren which are with me greet you.
22 All the saints salute you, chiefly they that are of Caesar's household.
1 Timothy 6:6-10
6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
* 8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
Hebrews 13:5-8
* 5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
7 Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.
8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
(SINGLE EYE)
We cannot see God's path and His glory clearly, as long as we are focusing on our problems.
(DIVINE DELIVERANCE AND DOMINANCE)
We choose to be Faithful or Fretful.
Living by faith is not simply an attitude adjustment, it is a work of Divine deliverance and dominance.
(WILLINGNESS REQUIRED)
BE Willing for God to change us and
BE Willing to submit to His rule in our lives,
(CONTENTEDNESS)
BE CONTENT,
TRUST GOD,
DON'T MURMUR.
(CAMOUFLAGING)
Never gossip in the name of "prayer request," or pepper your whining with "Praise the Lord," or blame God for your own mess.
(MAKE GOD ALONE YOUR RULER)
Don't let folks or issues steal your joy, obscure your view, sour your attitude, determine your destiny, set your limits.
(STEP BY STEP PATH TO VICTORY)
ALWAYS seek, trust, love, obey, follow, praise, serve & please JESUS; in every situation.
Stay in His word, walk in His Spirit.
(NAUTICAL TERMS OF SERVICE)
Weigh anchor, launch out, set sail, stay the course, hold fast, batten down, pipe down, trust your compass, obey your Captain.
(STEPS TO SUCCESS)
Take instruction, focus on the project, plan ahead, keep learning, make sacrifices, don't wander, finish the task.
