(as found in the Bible)
#2 of 16 Areas of Believer's Perfection
PERFECT IN MERCY
God provides, calls and enables Christians to be PERFECT IN MERCY. This article is not a definition or explanation of mercy. It is simply a statement that God calls and enables us to experience and exemplify perfect mercy.
As with all perfections and graces in the Christian life, it is the redemptive work of God in us that makes Perfect Mercy possible. Perfect Mercy is the presence and practice of God's mercy in us. This is a perfection of quality, not quantity. God's word is our authority.
PERFECT MERCY
Luke 6:36 Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.
DLG notes… Though the word, "perfect" is not used in this verse, it is only reasonable that we are exercising perfect mercy when WE ARE AS MERCIFUL, AS OUR HEAVENLY FATHER IS MERCIFUL.
ADDENDUM... This passage from Ephesians mentions qualities associated with mercy and helps us understand the meaning of being PERFECT IN MERCY.
Ephesians 4:29-32
29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
