09/05/20 TREASURES IN 2 TM. 3:15-17
Explore and examine 2 Timothy 3:15-17. What treasures can you find. Here are a few I found.
2 Timothy 3:15-17
15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
A few treasures I found...
2 Timothy 3:15
15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
DLG note...
Someone evangelized the grandmother (Lois) and Lois taught Timothy's mother (Eunice) and Eunice taught Timothy the word of God (Old Testament).
Knowing and believing the Scriptures as adults and able to instill those truths to children and grandchildren.
Knowing the word of God, from the time of childhood, makes a person wise concerning salvation and leads into greater faith.
2 Timothy 3:16
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
DLG note...
All Scripture (original Divine revelation) was given by God to chosen men, to put in writing and has been transmitted to us.
All Scripture is profitable, is therefore profitable, is advantageous...
For DOCTRINE (teaching) the truths of God. To inform, transform and conform us to the will of God. Providing the foundation, infrastructure and superstructure of the Christian life and the order of the Church. The basics of a Christian life.
For REPROOF, for rebuking, for convincing men of their sins, to call back into Christian life, those who have failed.
For CORRECTION, for setting right, for restoring, those who have seeking a restored right relationship.
For INSTRUCTION IN RIGHTEOUSNESS, (in our thinking, acting, faith, relationships.
2 Timothy 3:17
17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
DLG note...
The teaching of the Bible is for Evangelizing the unsaved, Edifying the believer through Doctrine, Reproof, Correction and Instruction in Righteousness. These four objectives are for the purpose PERFECTING the believer.
God intends to Perfect believers spiritually (as taught throughout the entire Bible), make complete, remove wax, remove dross, remove sin, remove carnal mind, remove moral imperfections.
God intends to Perfect believers spiritually by adding whatever spiritual qualities we lack (while in this world). Remember, God is the Giver of every good and perfect gift and God gives us whatever we need for spiritual life and godliness.
God gives us every spiritual blessings (forgiveness, regeneration, justification (righteousness), adoption, cleansing, purity, fullness, power, wisdom, guidance, fruit of the Spirit, so that we might do every good work He assigns to us.
As we are told in Ephesians 2:8-10
Ephesians 2:8-10
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
